Every weekend at Temple of Heaven crowds gather to dance, sing, play board games and dominos. This group of three seniors were having an intense game. The central figure with the extreme eyebrows holding the dominos took the game very seriously, while his talkative, jovial friend kept shouting instructions. The stern faced onlooker seems to be a judge deciding the outcome, like Father Time on duty. The image provides an insider’s view of a modern Beijing, retaining its old face and traditions and was a double award winner at the prestigious annual 2016 “Beijing’s New Image in the Eyes of Foreign Friends” photo competition held last December.
