On March 20, 1896, the Imperial Post of the Qing Dynasty (16441911) was established, marking the birth of the national postal service system. During the period of the Republic of China (1912-1949), the Chinese Post Office adopted the operation concept of “Regularity, Security and Speed”. During the Second Revolutionary Civil War, the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, the Communist Party of China (CPC) established Soviet Post, the Post of the Base for Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the Post of Liberated Area. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese People’s Post was established. Under the leadership of the CPC, the people’s post office has been dedicating to fulfilling the obligations of providing universal postal services since the war times and has made great contributions to the national and ethnic unity.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China Post has comprehensively deepened reform and accelerated transformation and upgrade. It has adopted the development strategy “One Body Two Wings” and the strategy to boom the development of the post industry through science and technology development led by informationization. Its comprehensive competitiveness has been improved, while its business coverage has been increasingly extended. So far, it has become a modern service group with operations for fundamental postal services, financial business, express and logistics as well as e-business. In 2015, it ranked 143rd among the Fortune 500 enterprises, holding an increasingly higher position on the international postal service stage. China Post has set up the goal to develop into a world-class postal service supplier by 2020, when a moderately prosperous society will be built up as planned, to write a new chapter meeting the expectations of the time during the journey to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
